Our Mission & Legacy

Established in 1950, the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute has grown from a small cancer clinic into one of the most respected oncology institutions in South Asia. Located in the heart of Kolkata, West Bengal, we serve a diverse population from across Eastern India and neighboring countries.

Our mission is threefold: to provide accessible, high-quality, and compassionate cancer care to all patients regardless of their socioeconomic background; to conduct groundbreaking translational research that bridges the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications; and to educate and train the next generation of oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals.

The institute operates under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, and is recognized by the National Cancer Grid of India. We are also a WHO Collaborating Centre for Cancer Prevention and Control.
